Happy Locally Applicable Holiday!
Based on where you are, you could be losing a few pounds from Thanksgiving, enjoying lighting candles, or planning some travel with family. And for many of us, thinking about what the shifts in COVID-19 may mean for our communities, family, music events, and travels.
We have more places and communities to catch up with and were thinking, "How can we capture and rethink together what is afoot for 2022?" And how are we rebuilding and measuring where we are growing as communities next? We're enjoying what groups like Vibe Lab and Sound Diplomacy have been exploring, and share some of those updates below.

The history of music runs deep in Nashville, TN. The city is known as the Music City and is well-known for live music performances, music festivals, and songwriting. - Zimbabwean Music Sector Situational Analysis - carried out under the framework of the EU/UNESCO Expert Facility for the Governance of Culture in Developing Countries and is part of the project in Zimbabwe titled “Strategy for the sustainable development of Cultural and Creative Industries (CCIs) in Zimbabwe – focus on the Music sector”.
- German Economic Impact Study - an extensive study in Germany, examining the economic impact of music ecosystems in nine German cities, regions, and states: Augsburg, Bremen, Cologne, Munich, Stuttgart Region, Hannover Region, Bavaria, Saxony, and Saxony-Anhalt.
- DCMS Market Assessment - a comprehensive assessment of the studio market in England. Over 2,400 places were mapped (opened and closed), establishing the most comprehensive portrait of this sector produced
- The Quarantine Tapes - a daily podcast program from Onassis LA and dublab. The show is hosted by Paul Holdengräber and features guests who are artists, writers, activists, leaders, workers, and thinkers, in conversation with Paul about how they have been spending their time during this unprecedented time in history.
